Strengthening Digital Learning at Haupe Central College

Haupe Central College

Project Description

We recently had our CSR project for Haupe Central College, where we completed the first phase of our Infinity Foundation initiative by fully upgrading the school’s IT lab. What was once an under-resourced space is now a modern, reliable learning environment equipped with up-to-date computers, stable internet, and the tools students need to explore the digital world safely and meaningfully.

The transformation may look simple on the surface (new hardware, fresh wiring, a clean and functional setup), but the real change is in what it enables. Students who once had limited or no access to computers now walk into a lab where they can learn, experiment, and grow their skills without frustration or interruption. For many, this is their first real chance to move beyond theory and start building something with their own hands.

This upgraded lab is only the beginning. Under the Infinity Foundation banner, we’re already planning the next phase: a series of hands-on workshops tailored specifically for Haupe Central College students. Starting early next year, our team of instructors and industry experts will visit the school regularly to deliver practical training in

  • Programming fundamentals and modern languages
  • Artificial Intelligence and how it’s shaping the future
  • Emerging technologies (machine learning, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and whatever comes next)

These won’t be lectures from a textbook. They’ll be interactive sessions where students write their first lines of code, train simple AI models, build small projects, and see real-world applications of what they’re learning. Our goal is to spark curiosity, demystify technology, and show every student that a tech career is within reach, no matter where they start.

Why This Project Matters

The primary objective is to narrow the digital divide in rural communities. Specifically, this project aimed to transform the existing facility into a functional, inspiring environment that facilitates hands-on learning, strengthens digital literacy, and equips students with essential technological skills for their future academic and professional careers.

The direct beneficiaries are the students and teaching staff of Sri Seelananda Maha Vidyalaya, Bulathkohupitiya.

  • Students: Gain access to modern equipment and a safe space for technological exploration.

  • Teachers: Benefit from improved infrastructure and tools that allow for more effective and engaging lesson delivery.

  • The Local Community: Indirectly benefits as the school becomes a hub for innovation and growth in a rural area.

Long-term impact is achieved through sustainable infrastructure and skill-building. By reorganizing the lab layout for optimal use and providing durable equipment, the project ensures the facility remains functional for years. Furthermore, by focusing on “skills that serve students beyond school,” the project creates a lasting ripple effect, preparing the next generation for a digital economy.

Support can be provided through collaborative partnerships and resource allocation. Organizations like SITS and the Infinity Foundation demonstrate this by contributing technical expertise, equipment, and labor. Others can support by:

  • Funding future maintenance or software updates.

  • Volunteering technical training for teachers and students.

  • Donating additional modern hardware to expand the lab’s capacity.

Accountability is maintained through a collaborative, needs-based approach. The project was not implemented in isolation; the team worked closely with the school administration to understand specific requirements and optimize the layout accordingly. By involving multiple stakeholders (SITS, Infinity Foundation, and the School), the project ensures that resources are used effectively and that the improvements meet the actual needs of the community.
